Life Update and Eyebrow Gel Review | MUA vs Revolution |

Every situation in life is temporary. So, when life is good, make sure you enjoy and receive it fully. And when life is not so good, remember that it will not last forever and better days are on the way.”

Jenni Young

It feels like it’s been so long since l picked up my laptop or a pen and notepad just to write. The last 6 weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. To begin with, my hosting service accidentally deleted by account which caused my site to be down for about 2 weeks in April. This unfortunately occurred during my exam period. However, as well as revising, l managed to build my blog up again from scratch. I decided to go for a different theme too which l absolutely love to pieces.

My exams went well (l hope and pray) and since they finished(17th May), l have just been enjoying my life. As someone who finds it difficult to balance academics and life, it was important for me to take some time out. My time was well spent with my boyfriend, friends and family and l truly have had the best few weeks. Graeme and l went off to Lanzarote for a week at the end of May on our first ever couples holiday and it was fantastic! I cannot wait to share this with you all in the next few weeks!

Going forward, I am super excited for the next few months as l will be spending my summer interning and being a tourist in my beautiful city!

MUA v Revolution | Battle of the Brows |

Disclaimer: I am no expert in makeup or in eyebrows. I’m just a bargain hunter student sharing her findings. All views are my own and all products were purchased with my own funds.

4 years ago, if one came to me discussing threading, waxing or tweezing eyebrows, l would have told you it was an utter complete waste of my money and time. However, today, things are different. When l’m leaving the house, l make sure my eyebrows are intact and presentable. Today, amongst many women(myself included), eyebrows are everything. If one’s eyebrows are not in good shape, it is slightly frowned upon.

For the last few months, I have been buying and testing out affordable makeup brands. Some have been fantastic investments whilst with others, l have simply mourned my long gone pounds.I decided to try two different eyebrow gels in my hunt of finding a good one that was as inexpensive as possible. Being a student, everything has to be as affordable as possible. I purchased the MUA Luxe Power Brow Sculpting Gel in chestnut for £4 and the Revolution Brow Pomade in dark brown for £6.

The first gel l tried was the Sculpting Gel from MUA. On first impressions, it looked okay but l was a bit worried about the colour. In store, chestnut looked darker than dark brown so l had opted for chestnut. It was obvious that this gel was a definite dupe of The Body Shop’s Smoky 2 in 1 Gel Liner . Upon opening the gel, it had parted into three and chestnut was way lighter than my own brows. “There goes my hard earned £4,” l thought to myself.

On first impressions, the Brow Promade from Revolution looked good. I was instantly worried that the dark brown was too dark for my eyebrows but that was better than being lighter. I found it a little difficult using the applicator brush that comes with it as it was a little too thick. However, the results l received, were ones of an excellent investment!

MUA and Revolution Beauty London (formally Makeup Revolution) are both well known affordable brands in the UK that have been around since my young teens. Personally, l think MUA do have a little more to work on the quality of their products. Revolution Beauty on the other hand have simply upped their game since the olden days! Their eyebrow gel was fantastic and l am still using it today. You only need a little bit to use and l can see it lasting me  a long time. Revolution Beauty definitely wins this one.

My questions to you:

Have you ever used any MUA or Revolution Beauty products?

Are there any other affordable makeup brands you have used that you would recommend?

What are your plans this summer?

Good luck with your exams 🙂 I hope they went well! I haven’t actually tried either MUA or Revolution. The Revolution one definitely looks better from the photos you shared! For £6 it seems like a nice option! I have been thinking of trying out something else, so will definitely keep this one in mind. Thank you for sharing!
